Today I wanted to touch on a few business-ey things…
Pool Referees has declared Sundays as Pool-workaholics-Sunday-funday! We do most of our clients weekly or biweekly cleanings on Sunday…want us to do it on a week day?? Come on down and pick a service! The more clients we get the more people we can add to our team! That’s the joy of a start-up business 😉
Story time!
I wish I had known about this while it was happening, then I would have demanded pictures! (I put a few of them in there just to give you visuals of the parts I’m talking about).
The other weekend at a clients house our technicians (Dave and Robert) were working on an older filter; so old they don’t make parts for the filter anymore…(similar to the one seen below)
There are two sections to a filter… there is the bottom section that has all the filter parts in it and the top section. When Dave and Robert pulled the top section off to work on it, the band they needed to get to had a clamp on it. Part of what was holding the clamp to the band was a bolt and nut. When they were taking it off the threads on the bolt became stripped. The bolt couldn’t be used any more. 🙁
Calling around to several places proved how old the filter was because none of the companies had any bolts in stock! Leslie’s could special order the part but for hundreds of dollars. (Bolts should not cost hundreds of dollars by. the. way.)
So the customer suggested Dave and Robert use his vice (an object that sits on a workbench and is utilized to hold something in place while you work on it) and a hack saw in his garage.
Dave and Robert cut off the bad part of the bolt and salvaged the clamp! Between them and the customer they were able to come up with a free part! Specially made none the less!
