There is nothing worse than having a pool company come and clean your pool right before it rains. It ruins everything! The hard work they’ve done to vacuum and pick up your pool seems wasted.
So what can you do when bad weather hits and you have to wait a week or more until your technician comes out again?
Have no fear! Pool Refs is here!
Here are some easy tips to keep your pool looking in tip top shape without having to fully clean it yourself:
- After a storm it is always a good idea to add a little granular chlorine, otherwise known as shock to the water and run the pump a few extra hours.
- Also make sure you pool is circulating properly… Have your pool returns work for you by aiming them all in a circulating direction (i.e. clockwise or counter clockwise). It is important to have at least one pool return pointing towards the bottom so that water is being circulated below the surface. Typically you want this in the deep end of the pool if your pool returns allow for this.
- If you have a cleaner in your pool be sure it is operating properly and throughout the entire pool. Keep its baskets, bags, & screens, etc clean and empty.
- It is always easier to clean leaves off the surface of the water than on the bottom of you pool, so make sure that your skimmers are flowing water sufficiently by keeping the baskets clean. That way they are removed before they have a chance to sink to the bottom.
- Finally as I always state, filtration is most important for a clean and clear pool. Be sure you pump basket is empty and your filter pressure is below 25 psi.
